Genesis 37-41 – Study Packet, Page 2 : Joseph’s struggles & Rise
Joseph’s Younger Years:
- Joseph is Jacob’s 2nd youngest child—
- - The firstborn child of… who?
- - Rachel!  Thus He is Jacob’s favorite child.
- At 17 years old…Joseph gave his father a bad report about his brothers (he ‘tells’ on them for their bad work)
- Jacob loves Joseph more than all his other sons
- - He gives Joseph a special, robe of many colors
- - Joseph’s brothers hate him & won’t speak nicely w/him
- Joseph shares a dream he had of his brothers bow before him
- - He tells them & they hate him even more because of it
- Joseph shares another dream that he had…
- - In this one, his brothers and parents bow before him
- - His father rebukes him, but his brothers grow in jealousy
- One day, while Jacobs 10 eldest sons are watching he sheep a far trip away from their home…
- - Jacob sends Joseph to check on them
