- - Read the paragraph on the top left
- - Then work through each question.

Helping Gibeon: 10)
- Five of Gibeon’s neighbors feel like Gibeon betrayed them by befriending Israel
- - So…  they attack Gibeon!
- Gibeon asks for Joshua's help (What do you think Israel should do?)
- - W/God's encouragement Joshua leads Israel's army to completely defeat these five cities!
- God fought for Israel:
- - Sending confusion (esp. for the kings)
- - Sending deadly hail on them, &
- - Answering Joshua's prayer for the sun to stand still
- - - This happened for ~1 day
- - - This gave Israel the daylight that was necessary to see and completely defeat their enemies!

Victory: 10-12)
- With God's continued provision and protection—
- Israel defeated all of the major enemies of the land
- - Libnah, Lachish, Horam, Eglon, Hebron, & Debir—
- - - The entire southern region…
- - Hazor, Madon, Shimron, Acshaph, & the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Hivites—
- - - When they were all teamed up
- - The Anakites
- - - Then there was peace (v11:23)!
- This did 2 main things:
- - Executed God's justice
- - Made space for Israel to move in

Theology:
- God fights for His people, bringing them victory
- God wants us to keep our word and be trustworthy and reliable to our friends
- God's provision and protection brings us success--Think about it...
- - God threw armies into confusion
- - Encouraged Joshua to attack
- - Hardened the enemies hearts
- - Stopped the sun
- - Sent hail
- - And undoubtedly did more!

Anthropology:
- Simple trust in and obedience to God will sometimes illogically lead to amazing success!
- We must respect God's desires when He bans something from us
- We should always ask God about the big decisions in our life.
- It is very important to keep our promises
