Memory Verse Quiz Preparation:
- Read: Psalm 15:1-5 (NOTE: The quiz is only on vv 1-4); from the handout, p25, your journal
- - What can be a benefit of reading this psalm before coming before God in worship? Below are two main answers we talked about in class...
- - - Sin separates us from God & keeps us from worshiping Him as we should. But reading this psalm can help you recognize your sin, which is needed so you can confess it to God and ask His forgiveness.
- - - This can also help keep you from distractions, focusing you on what is most important and right to do in life
- - - Your heart can be ready/prepared for whatever God has in store for you
- - - Help you be able to worship better with other people, because you're not causing problems
- - In general, who is fit to draw near to God in worship?
- - - Those who do what is right and who are righteous.
- - The Bible tells that all of sinned, so how do you think can one become ‘fit’ for worship?
- - - The Bible shares how it starts with a relationship with Jesus, admitting your sin, believing in Him, confessing Him as Savior & Lord, and then committing your life to Him is the first step
- - - After this, though, even those who are in a relationship with Jesus will sometimes make mistakes & sin--they can become 'fit for worship' by confessing these sins to God, asking His forgiveness, & repenting of them.
- - List three areas (from verses 2-5) that you need to work on this week as you draw closer to God’s presence.
- - - This is a personal reflection & we did not share them in class

- - In your own words, describe two ways this verse tells us to use (or not use) our tongue. Give at least one Jr. High example. (2 points)
- - - There are several possible answers here, read the verses and put two or more of these in your own words & provide an example
A Burning Anger!
- Numbers 11:1-3) More complaining….
- - God sends fire that burns the outskirts of the camp
- - They name the area 'Taberah,' which means “Burning”
- Num 11:4-9, 10-15) More complaints from the people!
- - They want to return to Egypt…
- - - They are not content with what God gave them
- - - Thus they are doubting and rejecting God
- - - And they are being very glutinous & greedy
- - Moses tells God that the constant complaints of the people are too much for him!
- - - He actually asks God to kill him if things don't get better!
- Num 11:16-17) God helps things get better by having Moses select 70 leaders to help him lead the people
Wails & Quails!
- Num 11:18-20) The last complaint the people had was for meat
- - God now answers this complaint by super-providing!
- - He says He will give them so much meat it will come out of their noses!
- Num 11:31-35) Look at how much quail God sent!
- ~The quail are swarming around, 3 feet deep for an entire day's journey around the camp! Careful what you ask for
- - - This would last for a month.
- - While they were greedily stuffing their faces with this meat God sent a plague among them
- - - They could have repented for their lack of trust & contentment, but they didn't, only feeding their own greedy gluttony.
- - - Therefore God furthered the just discipline
- - That place was named, 'Kibroth-hattaavah,' which means 'Graves of Craving' (or 'Graves of Greediness’)
